Osper and MyBnk get young people app prototyping
When Osper was offered another opportunity to team up with MyBnk to offer young people an opportunity to learn about app prototyping, the response was HELL YES!
Given Osper has created a business around it’s mobile baking app and pre paid debit card for young people, this was right up our street. What’s more we got to go to their annual YAP (Youth Advisory Panel) festival!
With an ample supply of sharpies, paper and mobiles in hand, the Osper crew set out to the MyBnk offices with the aim to get young people creating their very own savings apps. On arrival the first point of action was clear, test the photo booth area…
With the photo booth successfully tested it was time to welcome our budding app builders. Two teams were quickly established, the young and the younger. Altogether we had a group of 9 young people ranging from 9 to 19. With only an hour in hand we got down to business quick. We got our groups thinking about savings, did they save and if so how? Responses went from ” I save for everything I want” to “I don’t save. When it is something big i just ask my mum for it”
Next question was…
Ok if you could create your very own savings app what would you want and need it to do?
The response…SILENCE…and then the possibilities started to emerge:
If I was saving for something it would need to tell me how much I have and how much more I need
It would need to tell me where the best deals are for the items i’m saving for
I would need to have a don’t touch section for long term savings
With the ideas following it was time to start designing their app screens.

Before the day was out we had time to test out that photo booth one last time.

The Osper workshop gave young people an opportunity to build their own banking app featuring with all they need to get savvy with their money. It was fresh, energetic and thought provoking.
