The days are getting longer and the sun is shining higher in the sky. But wait – what’s that on the horizon? You guessed it – EXAMS.
Here at Osper, we know that the pressure of exams can be stressful, and we want to make your preparation for the dreaded e-word as smooth and painless as possible. We think that revision process gets a bad rep – it doesn’t have to be something that you dread. It could even be – dare we say it – fun?!
Check out our tips below for an all new revision experience – Osper style!
Burst! ( … and then break)
Newsflash! Revision doesn’t have to be about the long slog. (Nobody wants to be festering in a den of doom for 12 hours a day). Chop your time into mini sprints of energy and focus. Then, in between those bursts, get some fresh air, move your legs, and get rid of some excess energy. Learning bursts will last for different lengths of time depending on what suits you – just go with your flow and let your motivation soar!
Mmmmm … sardines?!
Use revision time to get creative with your snacks 😀 It’s true that oily fish is great for your brain, but don’t worry, we don’t want you munching on tinned fish! (Maybe just have it for dinner ;)) In between meals, almonds and blueberries are yummy brain boosters. And if the stress is getting too much – have a chomp on some celery or carrot sticks to crunch your stress away 😀
Feng Shui anyone?
Feng Shui is all about organising your surroundings to give you optimum happiness and productivity 😀 Harmonizing yourself with your environment makes for a happier you and a better reviser. Ok, so it might sound a bit wishy washy – and we don’t blame you for being a bit dubious – but if nothing else, starting revision in a clean, tidy and organised space can’t help but encourage a clean, tidy and organised mind.
Say it, sing it, or make a little story …
Our memories work in pathways. That can be a pathway between musical notes in a song, between plot twists in a story, or between steps in a scientific process. Speaking your notes to yourself will help you remember them, but why stop there? Singing facts and figures along to your favourite tunes, or using them to make a story will make them quicker and easier to remember! Who knows – your revision could trigger the launch of your career as an author!
Different scents for subjects
Ok, here’s where it gets a little weird. But hear us out. Smells can boost your memory ten-fold, and sniffing a familiar smell can transport you back to a time, a place – or a thought. Choose a scent for every new subject that you revise. That can be a perfume, a flower, a t-shirt or some cheese! (Maybe not) Then, when it comes to the exam, spray that scent on your body, and get the facts a-flowing!
Love your revision <3
You may scorn, but wait one minute. You spend months and months with your carefully prepared, colour coded, beautifully organised revision notes. That’s a big chunk of hard work and effort right there. So, embrace them! Learn to love the revision experience and appreciate how clever it is making you and how much your knowledge is expanding. If you approach the whole revision situation with a positive mindset, the better the outcome will be – we promise!
And finally, the Biggie: SLEEEEP.
Whichever advice you choose to follow, however many tips and tricks you try, and whatever you eat or drink, it will mean nothing – we repeat, NOTHING if you aren’t getting enough SLEEP. So no scribbling till the small hours – at the end of the day, chill out, have a hot drink, and zzzzzzzzz ….
